Having babies is a natural part of life and here at the Women's Education and Lactation Center we offer personalized and family-centered care. As a patient, you can choose the kind of birth experience you want and will not be overwhelmed by doctors or receive intervention when you don’t want it. If the situation arises that your infant should need subspecialty or intensive care, be very confident that we have state of the art services available. After birth, you are encouraged to keep your baby with you at all times to promote mother-infant bonding. Breastfeeding is strongly encouraged and our lactation consultants will be here to support you with any questions or concerns that you may have.
The Women's Education and Lactation Center offers you and your family a variety of tours and classes that will help you prepare for childbirth and parenting.
We also offer assistance and support to breastfeeding families through inpatient and telephone consultations, sale of breast pumps and other related breastfeeding supplies, and rental of hospital-grade breast pumps. Our staff are board certified lactation consultants or registered nurses.

Vanderbilt Women's Health

Vanderbilt Nurse-Midwives
With the Vanderbilt Nurse-Midwifery practice, you and your baby are in the care of experienced certified nurse-midwives who have been educated in two disciplines; both nursing and midwifery, and are all board-certified. If a complication should arise, we will consult with any number of specialty physicians at Vanderbilt with whom we have collaborative relationships. We offer individualized, nurturing, low-intervention care. Trusting relationships and satisfying birth experiences are emphasized.
