The Pediatric Orthopaedic Service provides extensive outpatient and inpatient experience in the diagnosis and treatment of all musculoskeletal diseases of children. Our scope of practice includes the treatment and management of simple and complex fractures, pediatric and adolescent sports injuries, spine deformities and the treatment of scoliosis, congenital bone deformities, hip disorders, congenital foot deformities, and osteomyelitis.
Our pediatric orthopaedic surgeons and general orthopaedic physicians care for 17,000 children each year. Outpatient clinics include Spina Bifida Clinic on Monday afternoon, Scoliosis Clinic on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Cerebral Palsy Clinic on Friday afternoon. There are general pediatric orthopaedic clinics Monday through Friday.
Our staff works in conjunction with the departments of Medical Genetics, Neurology, Pediatrics, Rheumatology, Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, and Pediatric Infectious Disease in the management of cerebral palsy, spina bifida, hemophilia, malignancies, bone and joint infections, muscular dystrophy and other neurologic disorders, as well as rheumatic disorders.
The Pediatric Orthopaedic outpatient clinic is a full service facility that provides on-site radiology examinations, casting services, with physical and occupational therapy consultation and referrals. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to providing the highest quality of patient care, education and support to our patients and their families.
Our research includes analyses and clinical outcome studies to evaluate the surgical treatment of scoliosis, Legg Calve Perthes disease, congenital hip dysplasia, and the treatment of fractures in children, adolescents and teenagers to include intermedullary nailing of long bone fractures. Our faculty has national and international exposure and are all well-recognized experts in the care of all aspects of the musculoskeletal diseases and trauma in children.
