The Division of Critical Care Medicine provides patient and family focused clinical care of the highest quality for children needing critical care and perioperative care. Our division also offers excellent educational opportunities in clinical care and research in pediatric critical care. Visit the sections below to learn more about our programs and services:
This 36-bed unit provides highly specialized care for critically ill children. The PCCU serves as a regional and national referral center for critically ill children and their families who require the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services.
Many children admitted to Children's Hospital suffer from heart disease. The PCICU cares for those children while they are critically ill and recovering from cardiac surgery.
ECMO is a method of long-term lung and/or heart support in infants, children and adults with severe pulmonary and/or cardiac failure. We have been providing ECMO services to children for 20 years.
Our physicians and advanced practice nurses provide sedation to children of all ages. The team helps relieve pain and anxiety in the child as well as the parents and increases the likelihood of successful procedures.
A team of critical care professionals including doctors, nurse practitioners and doctors in training will be taking care of your child 24 hours a day. These health care providers use their unique expertise, access to sophisticated equipment and the services of our experienced support staff to provide the best care for your child and your family.
The faculty in our division are involved in cutting-edge research and are at the forefront of using technology to deliver the highest quality care.
The Division of Critical Care Medicine offers an ACGME accredited three-year fellowship program for pediatricians.
