At the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, we want to make sure all children are safe. Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for children ages one–14; nearly 4.5 million children nationwide are injured in their homes every year. You can help prevent many of these injuries by staying informed, supervising your child and learning how to use and maintain child safety products. Kohl's Safety Central will carry a variety of low cost home safety products with trained safety store educators on hand to inform consumers on their installation and use.
Kohl's Safety Central, located at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, includes the following:
Safety Store
The store is the first of its kind in Tennessee, carrying a variety of low cost home safety products for all children, including children with health care needs or disabilities.
Safe Escape
Safe Escape provides families education, information and access to adapted evacuation products so that they may plan for, practice and safely evacuate children with health care needs or disabilities during any fire, emergency or natural disaster. By appointment only.
Child Passenger Safety Programs
These programs provide education and child passenger safety seats for hospital families who demonstrate need, as well as seats specifically designed for children with special needs. They also provide child passenger safety checks throughout the community.
Safe Kids of Cumberland Valley
The Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is a proud leader of the National SAFE KIDS Campaign and the lead organization of the SAFE KIDS Coalition of Cumberland Valley, established in the Fall of 2003. The coalition is comprised of representatives of public safety, children's health agencies, public policy servants, community organizations, businesses, and community members who work to reduce injury for all children.
