Books on the Bayou November 12, 2010
| Our mission is to increase literacy and school readiness while strengthening family relationships. |
| Literacy is such an important and evolving issue in our society. At a very basic level, education and development is critically linked to future success in school and in life. Eighty percent of the brain is developed by the time an individual reaches the age of five, and the groundwork for a child's future learning potential occurs during these formative years. |
| We are pleased to provide a three-pronged approach: by providing children early access to books, educating caregivers about reading to their children, and engaging the child's physician in re-inforcing to families the value of reading, we believe there will be an improvement in the level of literacy in our community.
