Our consultation/referral services work with primary care physicians or other specialty service providers to address the special healthcare needs of adolescents. Our physicians serve as primary care providers for adolescents from 12 to 18 years of age. Primary care services include: Acute illness and injury - Annual/school physical exams
- Immunizations
- Pre-participation exams for sports
- Routine gynecological care (PAP Smear, STD screenings, contraceptive education and prescriptions)
- Evaluation of problems of emotional adjustment and stress
- Coordination of services for children with special needs
Our consultation and referral services are available to assist primary care physicians and other health service providers in the care of their adolescent and young adult patients. We offer a diagnostic or management opinion to assist referring professionals. At the request of the referring professional, we will assume responsibility for patient management until the problem is resolved. Common reasons for referral include issues of growth and development (such as delayed puberty, short stature, breast disorders); eating disorders; stress-related illnesses; chronic pain; and adjustment to chronic illness/disability.
