First Tennessee and Bank of America automatic teller machines (ATMs) are located on the 2nd floor across from the Food Court. They accept Cirrus, MasterCard, PLUS, Visa, American Express, HONOR, T24, and MOST cards.
A barber shop/beauty salon, located in Medical Center North (S-2326), serves patients, families, and Vanderbilt staff. Please call for an appointment. Please tell your nurse before leaving your room for an appointment. The barber shop/beauty salon is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. To schedule an appointment call 615.322.3433.

A full-service gift shop, operated by Friends of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, is located on the second floor near the food court. All proceeds benefit the Friends organization to support Children’s Hospital programs. The gift shop is open 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Laundry facilities are available on each unit of the hospital. Please check with your nurse for location and hours of operation.
If an item is lost, call 615.343-5371. If you left an item on a shuttle bus, call Central Parking at 615.936.1215. Items not claimed within 30 days are donated to charity.
A full-service post office in the basement of Medical Center North is open 8:30 a.m.until 4:00 p.m. each weekday. Incoming mail addressed to patients must have your child's first and last name exactly as you gave to the Admitting Office. The envelope should include the hospital room number and be addressed:

Free parking is available. Please bring your parking ticket with you for validation at the information desk on the second floor. You may park at the South Garage and take the covered walkway on the second level connecting to the hospital.
For clinic visits, two parking garages on 22nd Avenue/Garland Avenue provide access to Medical Center East, Medical Center South, Medical Arts Building and The Vanderbilt Clinic.

If you need to fill or refill a prescription during your child’s stay or before you take your child home from the hospital, a pharmacy is conveniently located on the second floor of the Children’s Hospital. You may want to check with our pharmacy before leaving, as some medications for children are not readily available at community pharmacies. Our pharmacy caters to the unique needs of children and can flavor medications to improve their taste. For your convenience, the pharmacy will gladly fill adult prescriptions.
The pharmacy also maintains over-the-counter medications for both children and adults. Please do not administer over-the-counter drugs to patients. It is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. For more information: Pediatric Pharmacy.
Smoking is not permitted within the hospital at any time. Cigarette smoking has been linked to lung disease, heart disease, stroke, SIDS, and other serious health problems. No alcohol is permitted in Children's Hospital at any time.
When calling within the hospital, simply dial the last five numbers of the phone number. For example, if the hospital number you are dialing is 615.322.0000, simply dial 2.0000.
- When calling outside the hospital, dial “9” first and, after an outside dial tone is obtained, dial the number.
- When calling long distance, dial “0” first. All long distance calls must be made collect or by calling card.

You may purchase prepaid phone cards at the gift shop on the 2nd floor, which allow you to make long distance calls at a lower rate.
Your television has a remote control and speaker at your bedside. You can receive local channels as well as some cable channels. Your nurse may ask you to watch special patient education videos on EZ TV (Channel 24 on your television set). Refer to instructions in the EZ TV Guide available in patient rooms. Please be considerate of others around you when adjusting the volume of your TV. Closed captioning is available on television in patient rooms.

Each patient room is equipped with a DVD player. You are encouraged to bring favorite DVDs from home, clearly marked with your name.
You may check-out DVD’s on the 7th floor at the following times:
Mon – Fri 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
4:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
7:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. (except Fridays)
Sat – Sun 12:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
There is a limit of 2 DVD’s at a time, and they must be returned within 24 hours. Children under the age of 13 must have parental permission to check out a PG-13 movie.
Please leave valuables such as jewelry, or money, at home or give them to a family member for safekeeping. If necessary, you may deposit valuables in the Medical Center safe at no charge. Contact the Cashier’s Office at 615.322.0115.
Volunteers are a valuable part of the Children’s Hospital team. The volunteers have been recruited, interviewed and oriented by the Volunteer Services and trained by Children’s Hospital staff to assist patients and families. Volunteers may visit with your child or help you take your child to a playroom, or play with you child while you eat a meal or take a shower. To request a volunteer, please ask your nurse to contact a child life specialist. All Children’s Hospital volunteers are easily identified by a blue vest and a photo I.D.
