Child Life Services at Children’s Hospital serve throughout the entire facility, including the inpatient units, the pediatric critical care unit, the pediatric emergency department, and various outpatient clinics.
The play and activity rooms, available to patients admitted to the hospital, are located throughout the hospital. The team of specialists and staff are carefully assembled to attend to the unique needs of children and teens in the healthcare environment. We offer a child life internship as well as a child life practicum for college and university students seeking to pursue child life servcies as a profession. Students will learn skills in the areas of medical play, surgical and procedural preparation, charting, planning and supervising developmentally appropriate activities, working with individuals and groups, family centered care, prioritizing needs and developmental assessment.
